Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Several factors have been shown to influence passing licensure examination. It is unclear to what extent Academic performance of PLM BSPT Batch 2016 may effect Physical Therapy Licensure Examination passing rates. Academic performance, defined as the percentage average in Physical Therapy subjects and PT Licensure Examination was used in the study. Grouping of the courses in each category are based on the Commission om Higher Education (CHED) under CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) no. 24 series of 2006 and PRC Licensure Examination for Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy (see Annex). OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to determine if Academic grades is a predictor for licensure examination of PLM BSPT Batch 2016 and if there is a significant relationship between the two variables. METHODS: A population of thirty six (36) students of PLM-BSPT batch 2016 was included in the study. Individual student's overall rating in the PT licensure examination and Academic performance data were collected and SPSS 20.0 was used to conduct the statistical analysis. Simple Linear Regression was used to determine if it is a predictor of success in licensure examination and Spearman Rho was used to determine whether or not there is a significant relationship. RESULTS: There is a moderate significant relationship between academic performance and physical therapy licensure examination result in area of APK and PT application as well as the GWA on academic performance of major PT subjects and average of PTLE results of PLM Batch 2016 graduates. However, Medical and Surgical Condition showed negligible correlation between two variables examined. CONCLUSION: There is an association between academic performance and PT Licensure examination that results in areas of PT application and APK. However there is no relationship in academic grades in Medical and Surgical Condition. Other editions:
