Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: The socio-demographic profile, aspirations, commitment to education, and perception on government support were the variables for this study to come up with a proposed alternative education program for elite Filipino athletes. Respondents came from various sports event giving answers that are diverse in nature, yet, their preference for future careers, educational courses to take, and preferred activities after sport retirement all come up to becoming a sports coach, teacher, or a businessman. Area of business that the athletes prefer is the food business or recreation. In designing an education program for the athletes other factors were taken into consideration like time spent in training, schedule of competition, and learning styles. Taking a cue from the International Olympic Committee's Athlete Career Programme, an education program for athletes must have full academic support with dedicated staff to look into the athletes' daily activities. A proposed ladderized education program was conceptualized to ensure that for every year of enrollment there is an accomplishment in terms of certificate courses that will lead to a 4-year degree course, the Bachelor of Physical Education major in Sports and Wellness Management.
