Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: This study on Evaluation of Computer Maintenance Program of a Commercial Bank focuses on discovering and proposing possible maintenance program improvement based on the information and findings on the different components of the existing maintenance program of the bank. It critically examines the bank's present maintenance capabilities and practices in order to attain its objective of ninety (90) percent uptime scenario on computer equipment. Limiting the study on microcomputer maintenance program and the bank's branches in Metro Manila, the study provides an improved approach on microcomputer maintenance program to attain high uptime scenario. Most banks believe that preventive maintenance is advantageous on their part. They usually check if the computer service and maintenance warranty is included whenever they purchase computers. The frequency of preventive maintenance varies from quarterly, semi-annually and annually. The individual bank performs this activity after the pay day period, during weekend, after the regular office hours, before the year-end or during Christmas vacation or whenever the bulk of work utilizing computer is less. The study underscores the need for computer preventive maintenance to attain the 90% equipment uptime scenario. In consonance, computer preventive maintenance must occur on a regular frequency to ensure minimum computer downtime, improved quality of service, customer satisfaction, and prolonged life of the equipment. In conclusion, evaluation is not the decision itself, but rather a tool for arriving at decisions. It relies on the whole array of special skills and knowledge for planning, which includes determining decision options and deciding what kind of information would be useful. Its purpose then is to affect the decision-----to illuminate and improve the organization. The study emphasized that evaluation is a means of finding out what is working well, why it is working well and what can be done to improve things. Therefore evaluation informs future decisions. It seeks to understand events and processes for the sake of guiding future action. Other editions:
