ABSTRACT: Building construction projects inherent and unique hazards frequently provide significant problems to envy organization involved. The construction industry is considered the most dangerous sector among all businesses worldwide, as it contributes a large growth to a country’s economy, it also includes unique and dangerous jobs that are inevitable. Knowing that the construction business have a very high injury and fatality rate compared to other sectors, health and safety hazards are among the most serious risks in building projects. Safety risk assessment is a crucial phase in construction project management for identifying possible hazards and analyzing the risks associated with such threats. In this paper, the safety risks involved in high rise building construction projects are analyzed through the application of Meta-Analysis and a ranking for the most critical ones are obtained using Pareto Analysis. Using standardized and validated survey questionnaires that are expected to be accomplished by few field experts. Analytical Hierarchy Process will be the tool to determine the top-ranked safety risks that are potential threats to overall success of the projects. The main contribution of this study is to propose a framework that presents a robust method for prioritization of safety risks in high-rise construction projects. The established framework is believed to help mitigate and will aid better assessment of safety threat management in construction sites. Lastly, it is believed to provide a decision tool for the decision makers to determine the adequate accident/injury prevention investments while considering budget, schedule, quality, and overall success of the project.
