ABSTRACT: STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported 227 road accidents per day and at least one person is killed in Metro Manila everyday of 2013. It means that in one year, more than 365 persons are killed in road accidents in Metro Manila alone. Road traffic injuries stands 8th in the leading cause of death worldwide. The Philippines recognizes the danger of speeding. Speed limit are set under Republic Act No 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code which mandates the allowable speed limits on open country roads, city and municipal streets, and throughfares. Yet, these speed limits can still be ignored by drivers. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: For testing the prototype, range of the transmitter-receiver will be determined of what is best for the range of highway and calibration of stepper motor to know the specified height for the lock in the designated speed limit. Questionnaire will be sent to the individuals that will be affected by the study to provide if the system will be needed by the public in current situation on speed limits. SUMMARY OF FINDINGS: RF power amplifiers drives the antenna of a transmitter. Lower Data Rates improves the sensitivity of the receiver. But higher Power Amplifier Level may cause overload which means data packets fails to be transmitted or received, 72 out of 111 respondents like to have ab automated speed limiter installed in vehicles to reduce the cases of over-speeding. Meanwhile, 39 out of 100 doesn’t want to have a speed limiter installed in their systems. CONCLUSION: The proponents conclude that they are able to create a system using a Transceiver Module, Stepper Motor with Motor Driver, and Microcontroller that minimizes the effort of a driver in looking out for speed limiting signage on the road and taking a glance at the speedometer if the speed of the car complies to the observed speed limit and also a speed limiter that is out of human intervention. RECOMMENDATION: • Alert or notification system to the developer when data is not transmitting to its respective receivers. • For future researchers that will continue this research, the computation of uphill and the downhill should be included in the pedal angle and voltage computation that enables it to limit the speed while driving through different slopes. • Automation of Speed limit through OBD II port that is connected through the ECU of a vehicle. Data should come from the ECU as converted into speed. • Solar-powered supply for the transmitter. • Transmission of one transmitter to multiple receivers and better range of transceiver module. Use of different driver for a stepper motor to produce a speed that works faster without any delay.
