ABSTRACT: The thesis entitled “Inclinations of the Selected Faculty Members of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila in Investing in the Capital Market” prepared and submitted by Queencess A. Agapay, Berna Lea L. Bernardo, Airha C. Leyson, Joselito T. Matulac, Louise Ann Q. Sotero, Lea B. Tumaca and Eana Jasmine R. Yao, has been prepared and submitted by the following researchers under the advisory of Prof. Bernard R. Letrero. The study attempted to determine the inclination of the faculty members of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) in investing in the Capital Market as assessed by 176 PLM faculty members. With regards to the profile of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila faculty members, the study found out that 84 (48%) of the respondents were predominantly 30 – 39 years of age. Having a 92 (52%) male respondents being the majority, and 104 (59%) has a master’s degree. The majority of the PLM faculty members receives a Gross Monthly Income between twenty thousand to thirty thousand pesos which is 70 (40%) in numbers. The literacy of the faculty members in investing in capital market shows that, Twenty-four percent showed satisfactory level of literacy, which means out of ten items, the faculty members, answered eight items correctly. The gathered 98.35% average score which indicates that the faculty members obtained a considerable extent of literacy in the capital market. In terms of the respondent’s willingness of the faculty members in investing on capital market seventy or forty percent (40%) of the faculty member were engaged in investing in capital market, particularly, in stocks. While seventy-one (40%) of them do not have any investment. There is a significant difference on the degree of inclination of the selected PLM faculty members to invest in the capital market in terms of their demographic profile. This indicates that the degree of inclination of the faculty members depends on their age, gender, educational attainment, and gross monthly income. This study found out and conclude that PLM faculty members are inclined in investing in the capital market as well as their literacy in the different investment outlets. Specifically, the researchers would like to find out whether the faculty members are inclined in investing in the capital market in terms of their demographic profile, how knowledgeable they are regarding the basic of investments, engaged in investing in the capital market and the level of their inclination regarding in investing in the capital market.
