Abstract: The coffee shop industry in Sampaloc, Manila, saw remarkable growth in 2022-2024, driven by an evolving urban culture that positioned coffee shops as social hubs for students, professionals, and residents. These establishments have transformed into multifunctional spaces catering to studying, working, and socializing, reflecting changing consumer preferences. This dynamic environment has encouraged new players to enter the market, intensifying competition while presenting unique opportunities for innovation and growth
This research investigates the "Challenges and Opportunities in the Emerging Market of Selected Coffee Shops in Sampaloc, Manila" focusing on the factors that influence their success and sustainability. Employing a qualitative approach, the study explores the profiles of coffee shop owners and their businesses, assessing their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT), alongside key success factors such as pricing, product offerings, location, and promotion (4Ps). Data were gathered through interviews and surveys with selected coffee shop owners, emphasizing operational challenges, customer preferences, and market adaptability
The findings highlight the dynamic growth of the coffee shop industry in Sampaloc, fueled by increasing demand among the local population. Identified strengths include customer-centric strategies, high-quality products, and niche offerings, while common weaknesses involve limited resources and market misalignment. Opportunities for expansion and diversification are tempered by threats such as intense competition and evolving consumer preferences. By synthesizing these insights, the study offers actionable recommendations to optimize operations, enhance customer engagement, and secure long-term success for local coffee shops.
