ABSTRACT : This research posits the influences of the Japanese popular or J-pop culture on the lifestyle and goal orientation of anime enthusiasts otherwise known as otaku. it presents a phenomenological study which aims to focus on : 1)the lifestyle of the otakus in terms of their patterns of living, social interaction and personal values 2) the goal orientation of the otakus in terms of their patterns of living , social interaction and aspired values as traits and 3) other influences that affect their lifestyle and goal orientation other than being involved in an otaku community. This study aimed to find out the extent of the influence J-pop culture and being in otaku community have on the individuals lifestyle and goal orientation, which includes fashion, prospective professions, to name a few. 56
