ABSTRACT : This study aimed to distinguish the concept of hiya among male juvenile deliquents and non-deliquents. The researchers want to know if know if there are similarities and differences in their concept. The study determined if there is a difference in their concept of hiya in the juvenile category after they have committed a deviant act. Since the connotationof hiya is a negative one, the researchers investigated if the repondents think hiya as a sense of propriety . Furthermore, the study aimed to give specific meaning to the concept of hiya since its broad in the Philippines. 56
