ABSTRACT : This essay offers an overview of studies of Philippine history undertaken in China since the 1930s. These studies are periodized into three waves. The changes in historiography are attributed to China's internal dynamics and the evolving relationship between China and the Philippines and between China and the overseas Chinese. The challenges confronting the study of Philippine history in China today are discussed along with the author's suggestions. 56
