Abstract : In the First three decades (1900-1930) of American colonization of the Philippines, official records showed the establishment of different social movements that challenged American leadership in the Archipelago. Such social disturbance was caused by workers protest in manila and agrarian disputes by farmers and landlords in different provinces of the country. Situation worsen in the latter decade of American occupation; as aclear sign , different social movements were founded with the aim of reforming the colonial social system. Some of such social movements were the Kapisanan Makabola Makasinag (1924-1925); Tayug uprising (1931); Tanggulan (1931) and the Sakdalista (1934-1935). From such social movements, according to the study made by Motoe Wada and Milagros Guerrero, the Sakdal movement was considered the most influential and carried a wider popular support. The organization was formally launched on July 28,1930, when Benigno Ramos established the Sakdal Newspaper. Under the leadership of Ramos established the Sakdal Newspaper. Under the leadership of Ramos, who was renowned as a great orator and literary writer; the organization gained prominence not only inmanila but also in provinces such as Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite , Laguna, La Union Pampanga, Pangasinan , Nueva Ecija, Rizal and Tayabas ( Now Quezon). The organization, through its mouthpiece the sakdal newspaper, lay down its two basic objectives ; (1) independence of the country and (2) social justice, It is objective of this study through analyzing some cartoons which were printed in the Sakdal nespaper to re-live the very soul and sntiment of the Sakdalistas. In every cartoons, one can see the essence of Sakdalism that was the very foundation of the groups opposition to American colonial order in the Philippines. 56
