ABSTRACT : Many tourists and balikbayans have been seen on national television watching Wowowee, a noontime variety and game show. The presence of these tourists led the researchers to believe that Wowowee is now a tourist attraction. Using ethnography, the researchers decided to find out what attracts tourists and balikbayans to watch Wowowee. The study showed that Wowowee has become attractive to tourists because of the following reasons: (1) the show is entertaining; (2) the audience feels secure and taken care of; (3) the audience is comfortable while watching the show; (4) the tourists are able to show off their talents; (5) the tourists have the opportunity to help other people; (6) the sense of kinship among families is strengthened; and (7) the tourists are given preferential treatment by the show's staff and the local viewers. 56
