ABSTRACT : The researchers made an evaluation of short films produced by the Mass Communication students of Trinity University of Asia in the School year 2007-2008. The films evaluated were Lalaki sa Dilim, Laruan, Les Bianca, Swan Song, and Game of Life. The social issues depicted in the films were homosexuality, parental abuse, poverty, violation of the freedom of the press, and computer addiction. These are the common problems experienced by people who live in the urban setting. The study implies that a quality film can be a medium to depict the truth and realities of life. 56
