ABSTRACT : This descriptive qualitative study on Rural Tourism and its benefits to rural communities was conducted in four selected towns of Quezon Province: Lucban, Tayabas, Sariaya, and Tiaong. Exploring the experiences of the four communities through participant observation, interviews with key informants from the communities, and documents analysis, the researchers described rural tourism, how it benefits rural communities and the challenges that is brought about by rural development and pursuit of community well-being. The study revealed that rural tourism was founded on the existence of natural, man-made, and cultural resources that are nurtured and sustained. It discovered that rural tourism contributed much to the local economic growth as well as the improvement of social life of the local people. It concluded that to sustain rural tourism, there is a need to further preserve and conserve the resources of the community: natural, man-made, and cultural ones; develop and improve infrastructure; and tighten the security of communities. 56
