ABSTRACT : Effective teaching means student learning. The literature on teaching effectiveness has identified a variety of teaching behaviors that affect student learning. Those teaching behaviors include the quantity, quality, and pacing of instruction; the opportunity to learn the content; expectations for students to learn; time allocation for curricular activities; classroom management techniques; developmentally appropriate instruction; continuous progress in learning with success; effective diagnosis of learning needs and prescription of learning activities; a motivational, positive learning environment; and active supervision and monitoring. Effective teachers emphasize both content and caring in their classes, which are not exclusive commodities. Caring is the very bedrock of all successful education (Noddings, 1992). Teachers are effective when they deeply care for students learning (Lurnpkin, 2007). A caring teacher can employ numerous effective teaching strategies to engage students' interest and learning. A caring behavior can be enacted when a connection is made between the one caring and the one cared for. 56
