ABSTRACT : This study analyzes how Twitter was used in the 2012 election coverage in four large circulation U.S. newspapers and AP stories. About 5 percent of the 5,000 election articles cited Twitter. Government officials, politicians and media professionals posted more than half the tweets. 56
