The group used a cross-sectional study design and the results were analysed using univariate, bivariate and stratified analysis. The results show that more than half of the study subjects had ARI and 40% of the subjects has diarrhea. The occurrence of diarrhea urges mothers to self-medicate (OR 3.0, CI 0.63-14.30) and has less chances of seeking consultations from medical practitioners (OR 0.42, CI 0.13-1.31). The effects of confounding variables like educational attainment and age of mothers cannot be disregarded. However, the occurrence of ARI has no association to the health-seeking behaviour of mothers, both on history of consultation and self-medication ER -
