Biology)- Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, 2006; 5 N2 - ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to identify and determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites among children aged 3-6 in Addas 2 Subdivision, Molino 2, Bacoor, Cavite. In this study, three methods, namely: FECT, Kato-Thick and Harada-Mori Culture Method were used. A sample size of 94 was examined. The study was conducted during the months of December 2005-January 2006. The overall prevalence rate was 44.7%. Twenty six point six percent (26.6%) of the respondents were positive for Ascaris lumbricoides, 17.0% were infected with Trichnuris trichuria, and 1.1% with both parasites mentioned. The risk factors involved in acquiring these gastrointestinal parasites are walkingbarefooted infrequent washing of hands, frequent nail biting, and playing in flood ER -
