Executive Summary a. Business Description The business is specialized in producing root crops, specifically, carrots. It is located in Atok, Benguet, for it is the suitable location for a carrot to grow in its best quality. CarrotSell has three hectares of land, all of which are designated for carrot planting. The business applies the land rotation method in order to control the pesticides and maintain the quality of the soil. For this reason, CarrotSell uses 1/4 of the land to produce enough carrots in a month. CarrotSell has a production capacity of 3.3 metric tons or 3,330 kilograms in a month, the business has three farmers that are in-charge in planting and harvesting. The owners of the business decided to not include the carrots for auction in La Trinidad Trading Post - a place where farmers and middlemen meet. But rather transport it directly to the chosen major public markets in Quezon City. The carrots produced by the business are transported in six major public markets in Quezon City, namely: Munoz Market, Mega Q-Mart, and Commonweal Market, Balintawak Market, Kamuning Public Market, and Murphy Public Market. CarrotSell produces once a month in these public markets. The business does not have a specific vendor for it is not feasible for a farm to produce a carrot every day. Additionally, the researchers have learned from the vendors that there is no designated delivery person for their stalls. The truck that arrives earliest depending on pricing and timing will get the sales of the carrots that they will deliver. Lastly, this type of business venture is a general partnership, owned by economic students who share the same duties and obligations and who share the same profit and have the liability to pay its debt when it goes bankrupt. b. Marketing Summary In this study, the researchers analyzed the demand and supply of six major markets in Quezon City, the most populated city in the country, to demonstrate the feasibility of incorporating these markets into the CarrotSell distribution process. Atok, Benguet is the second-largest carrot producer in the Philippines, and is known for its production of carrots. The price of carrots in the National Capital Region is 120 PHP per kilogram, which is relatively high compared to other southeast Asian countries. The CarrotSell aims to provide sellers and consumers with low-cost, high-quality carrots. c. Technical Summary CarrotSell is a business specializing in producing carrots. The product usualy grows on highlands because it requires a frigid cimate to survive. In the Philippines, Benguet province is the best location to cultivate carrots. That is why CarrotSell located their farm in the said province, specifically in Atok, Benguet. d. Management Summary CarrotSell is a general partnership type of business venture. It is owned by six business partners that share the same duties and responsibilities. Under the partners, there is a General Manager who oversees day-t0-day operations of the farm and ensures that the Marketing Representative, Accountant, and all the three farmers work productively and develop professionally. The rules and regulations of the entity cover all the important things the employees must follow. It also states the procedures for filing, processing, and confirmation of leave request. e. Financial Summary The owners of the business have equal contribution for the capital except for Mr. Jebrin Cali who contributed his land located in Atok, Benguet. The financial position of the business is feasible for it has a 5-year payback period.
