Executive Summary a. Business Description As the tourism industry begins to recover from the aftermath of the pandemic, the proponents hope to launch a startup that will boost the tourism sector while also empowering the business owners who were badly affected by the pandemic. After being named as one of the top tourist destinations in the 27th World Travel Awards, Intramuros became the focus of the proposed tour guide app ParaluMNL. Using the mobile app, visitors to the historic Walled City of Intramuros will have access to a travel guide and a live street view map service created specifically to make their time spent there more enjoyable, precise, and productive. ParaluMNL is also available in six different languages for the convenience of its users based on the languages spoken by the most frequent foreign travelers in the Philippines. When using ParaluMNL, guests will have instant access to all the details they need to organize a memorable visit to Intramuros. The mobile application, ParaluMNL, can be downloaded from the Play Store or the App Store, and selected features such as saved places and to-do lists can still be used without an internet connection. The term ParaluMNL comes from the Tagalog word paraluman, which refers to a compass and carries a sense of antiquity. The logo for the app also incorporates a compass as a symbol of guidance and a combination of purple and orange that signifies adventure and relief. With the tagline a compass towards the past, proponents for the ParaluMNL app hope to establish a platform for exploring the country's cultural and historical roots in a more adventurous way. b. Market Analysis The business owners operating in Intramuros are the target market of ParaluMNL to make the app profitable. In 2021, 962 businesses were operating as reported by the Intramuros Administration. Moreover, the app aims to connect with mobile users which are expected to have over 2,000 with 40,000 total demand by 2025, to help business owners increase their exposure and profitability. The study has the total respondents of 91 and 63.5% are food and beverages. The proponents will focus on the businesses under Food and beverages because 66.7% of them are not yet registered in any food mobile app thus, this information is essential to entice company owners to take advantage of our various packages. The total demand increases by approximately 3% to 24% annually since most travelers are seeking a less hassle experience. On the other hand, the total supply increases by approximately 12% to 24% every year, and the top competitors are Google maps, Grabfood and Tripadvisor. The target market is ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 annually, as this seems to be more feasible for a start-up business. c. Marketing Feasibility The brand positioning of ParaluMNL focuses on connecting people to the rich heritage of Intramuros by discovering and exploring the Walled City and by elevating the experience of the user by incorporating all the key features that a person looks for in a mobile tour guide app. Having a live street view map with a corresponding history guide is what makes ParaluMNL surpass its competitors. The proponents of ParaluMNL have chosen advertising, specifically sponsored placement and location-based branded pins, reservation fees, and in-app purchases as the pricing strategies to produce revenue streams. Advertising also serves as a platform for Intramuros businesses to advertise and be noticed by potential customers and tourists. The proponents ensure that the proposed startup complies with the relevant laws, policies, and regulations. It will also be in accordance with Republic Act 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012 as it aims to provide a safe environment to its users and secure their personal data. d. Technical Feasibility The development of ParaluMNL app for mobile devices needs conformance to certain technological requirements such as user interface and app design. The development process is divided into its major phases which are the testing and app launching. Third party services such as Hapio Booking, Geolocation Maps API, Facebook, and Google Sign in are also necessary to complete the functions of the app. When it comes to the process flow chart, the app users, particularly the tourists and merchants will be required to login for them to conveniently access all the features. Guests may still be granted accessibility to the app but with limited features such as map, attractions, and history guide. On the other hand, merchant users acquire access to more functionality, as they may be able to post products for sale and receive booking and reservation details. ParaluMNL will perform its business operations via client onboarding, beginning with the prospecting of businesses around Intramuros and ending with the negotiation of the agreement on the terms and conditions, to acquire revenue streams. Lastly, a 39.5 square-meter office space in Pandacan, Manila will be used for brainstorming sessions by the partners and employees, but a work-from-home setup will be utilized extensively to allow greater mobility and flexibility. The proponents will also participate at business expos to expand its operations and engage with more business owners. Digital posters in high-traffic areas such as airports and retail malls will also be used to increase the app's exposure. e. Management Feasibility ParaluMNL is structured as a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) so that as long as the partnership agreement permits it, new partners can be brought in and outgoing partners can leave without significantly impacting the operation of the business. Aside from the fact that partnership is best suited for mobile app ventures (Patel, 2021), the proponents choose LLP specifically to protect its partners from personal liability for the failure of one of its partners and even from the entire organization. The thirteen members of the group are the partners of ParaluMNL.. Instead of a basic hierarchy, partners customize the leadership and management structure to match their needs. In relation, salaried junior partners who include the General Manager, Financial Manager, IT Support Analyst, and Customer Care Representative, who frequently have no share or liability in the partnership, will be added as part of the organization. f. Financial Feasibility ParaluMNL will mainly gain its finances internally through personal investments and other contributions. Having the proponents as its first investors, demonstrates commitment towards its present and future stakeholders and shareholders, avoiding interest charges, and staying ahead of inflation to meet its financial goals and stability. Through a series of assessments utilizing financial analysis with the assistance of an accountant and backed by research, the financial aspect of this feasibility study shows great potential and competitiveness in aspects such as, its ability to generate earnings relative to its associated expenses, ability to pay short-term obligations, and ability to use its assets to generate income. The proponents were able to determine its prospect efficiency and profitability to the business process by carefully evaluating its financial decisions, thus generating a comprehensive financial plan. g. Socio-Economic Feasibility The entire contribution of the mobile tour guide app, ParaluMNL, is the increase in employment opportunities that will mobilize the economy. The Philippines being one of the popular tourist spots in the world and with the creation of a digital tour guide application will provide convenience to tourists to visit that will eventually result in a higher tourist growth rate. The creation of ParaluMNL benefits not only the labor force, but also the economy as this strengthens exchange rates. Lastly, to ignite the nationalism of the Filipinos that will patronize the mobile application is also one of the visions of the group.
