ABSTRACT: This thesis study conducted to compare and to determine the effect of conversion of municipalities of Bacoor and Imus to cityhood on its economic status (GRDP) and other economic growth determinants. This shows how these economic factors: Crime rate, Population, Tax rate, Per capita income, Employment rate and Number of Business Investors - is affected through the conversion. The researchers conducted a survey from locale residents of the said two cities and gathered data from the respective city halls of Bacoor and Imus. This study proves that population is increasingly gradually in the two cities due to natural reason. However, researchers found a significant growth in volume after the conversion due to migrations from the neighbour places. The same results with population, the crime rate in both cities shows an increasing behaviour. Also, the trsearchers saw the direct relationship of Employment rate and number of Business investors in Bacoor and Imus City. In terms of tax rate, it is seen that both cities established high collection rate due to automatic increase in taxes brought by cityhood. The per Capita Income computation shows a decreasing behaviour because as IRA increases the number of population increases making proportion smaller. Despite of the results gathered from the comparative analysis before and after the cityhood, the researchers cannot totally conclude that economic growth happened in Bacoor and Imus after the cityhood. The researchers need more time to observe these cities in the long run to determine how much of the six determinants affect the GRDP. However, the six dependent variables stated are proved to explain the independent variable, which is the GRDP of both Bacoor and Imus City.
