ABSTRACT: In the modern generation, the game DotA is one of the most played online game in the Philippines, and as time pass by, Filipinos have coined their own terms and codes in relation to the interaction of the game. This serves as a subculture language of gamers that drives them to have their own communication system too. This study analyzed the formation, usage, application, uniqueness and perceived challenges of the DotA lingo as a subculture language for gamers. This was done by the researchers with the hope to generate awareness to the public and make them understand another set of existing lingo in the society. The researchers took note of the formation of the lingos in terms of codes, abbreviations and meaning to a message; usage of the lingo before and during the game, and as strategy in both verbal and text-based; the application of the lingo even outside the game; the uniqueness and exclusively of the lingo; and the perceived challenges of the lingo in terms of development. As to have enough information in coming up with the results, the researchers gathered related literature and undergo researches, ten conducted interview from the primary respondents such as the gamers and casters of the Mineski. Also, the researchers have gathered data that will validate information collected from the primary respondents. This is through conducting interviews with the professionals such as a sociologist from the University of the Philippines, Manila; and linguists from the University of the Philippines, Manila and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. Meanwhile. The period of this study was from June 2013 to February 2014. After the data gathering procedures, data analysis and interpretation, the researchers have developed their objectives to come up with their video production outout. The main objective was to produce a documentary that will feature the DptA Lingo as a subculture language for gamers and focus on the stories about the formation, usage and application of the lingo.
