ABSTRACT: The study focused on the effects of Ni (II) on the external morphology, growth kinetic and sorption rate of fisherella ambigua. Artificially prepared metal ion Nickel was used for the experimental group. Samples were analyzed for its sorption rate using AAS, Spectra200. On the other hand, growth kinetics was also obtained by subjecting the samples to UV - VIS Spectroscopy with the wavelength of 660mm. Cells were mounted on slides for determination of its external morphology with the use of a photomicroscope. Based on the results, the morphology of Fisherella ambigua cells exposed on concentrations 0.5ppm and 1 ppm normal ovoid shaped cell were clearly visible, the filaments were in a straight, linear appearance and the blue-green pigments of the cells were seen . On the other hand, at concentration 2ppm and 4ppm there are some irregularities that occurred on the individual cells as well as in the shape of the filaments as for its color some of the cells had turned to pale blue-green. Growth kinetics of the algae showed no trend in the acquired results which means that growth still occurred but the rate does not depend on whether the concentration was high or low. The growth rate between the control amd the different concentrations and the rate between the varying concentrations although no trend had occurred on the results, there is still an uptake of Ni (II) by Fischerella ambigua.
