Biology)-Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, 2005; 5; The objective of the study was to identify the occurrence of bacteria in soft tissues and hemolymph of Perna viridis collected in Las Piñas River in October 2004. It also determined whether there was significant difference in the population of bacteria present in the soft and hemolymph.; Soft tisseue homogenate and hemolymph were cultured separately each in Mc Konkey agar, mannitol salt agar, Salmonella-Shigella agar and thiosulphate citrate bile salt sucrose agar. This was subjected to triple sugar iron agar test lysine iron agar test, methyl red voges-Proskauer test, Simmon's citrate agar test, catalase test, and sulfur reduction, indole production, motility test. This was to facilitate identification up to family level.; The study demonstrated that Enterobacteriaceao, Vibrionacease and Staphylococcacea were the familuies of bacteria present both in the soft tissues and hemolymph of Perna viridis. It also showed that there was no significant difference in terms of bacterial populations in the soft tissues and hemolymph
