ABSTRACT: The study employed descriptive-correlational method involving the participation of 548 college students, SY: 2014-2015, determining their socio-demographic profile, level of altruism and level of psychological well-being and to see the relationships of respondents' socio-demographic profile to altruism and psychological well-being. Relationship of altruism and psychological well-being was determined as well. Instruments used include Socio-Demographic Profile Survey Form, Self-Report Altruism Scale, and Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale. The research data were statistically treated using percentages, means, chi-square test and Pearson's r. The findings revealed that majority of the respondents belong to age group 18-20 years old, almost 60% of them are female, and at least 97% of them are single. More than half have no or at least only 1 or 2 siblings. At least one third of the respondents belong to a family with an annual income of 150,000-299,999, and 80% of them live in their own house. At least 52.2% of the respondents fall under low level of altruism category which indicates seldom execution of altruistic behavior such as volunteerism, gift-giving, prosocial acts and helping others and has low motivation in engaging their interpersonal actions related to altruism. The data projected a mean score of average level of psychological well-being which indicates that the respondents experience normal level of psychological well-being. Gender, civil status, number of siblings and residence type have been proven to have no significant relationship to the level of altruism. These indicate that the these factors do not seem to affect any kind of altruistic behavior exhibited by the respondents. However, changes in the age and income affect the level of altruism. Data showed that these two variables showed degree of dependence to altruism. Age, gender, civil status, and socio-economic factors (residence type and family income) exhibited certain degree of dependence to psychological well-being whilst result showed opposite in number of siblings. The study also strengthened the assumption that altruism has significant relationship to psychological well-being.
