ABSTRACT: This study aimed to propose enrichment materials on the integration of social problems in Foundations of Education I for Philippine Christian University. Specifically, this study attempted to answer the following questions: 1.
What is the stand of education students of Philippine Christian University on some current Philippine social problems and their educational implications with regard to the following aspects: a) background knowledge b) degree of interest 2.
Is there a relationship between the background knowledge and degree of interest of the said respondents on some current Philippine social problems and their educational implications? 3.
Analysis of books, documents and other materials to secure a framework of reference. 2.
Tabulation and interpretation of the data gathered from the questionnaire 4.
Development of the proposed enrichment materials The major findings of the study include the following: 1.
Out of the fifteen items on social problems and their educational implications tendered to the respondents, ten of these items fell within the greatly interested level. 4.
Resorting to the T-test for two independent means, the findings indicate that there is no significant relationship or difference between the background knowledge and degree of interest of the respondents on social problems and their educational implications. Based on the foregoing findings, the following conclusions were arrived at: 1.
That thirteen of the fifteen items on social problems and their educational implications presented to the respondents fell within the knowledgeable level means that the respondents were aware of the most common things about the items. 2.
That there is no significant relationship or difference between the two means showed that the background knowledge of the respondents on social problems and their educational implications was not far from their degree of interest. 4.

That the concerned authorities reflect on the probability of employing the proposed enrichment materials for distance study. 7.
That the Center for Institutional Research and Development of the Philippine Christian University, upon careful deliberation, support the reproduction of the proposed enrichment materials. 8.
That the Faculty Development Committee of the education department of the Philippine Christian University organize seminars in order to make faculty members of the department aware of the most recent facts and figures on current issues confronting human society.
