ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to provide an analysis of the causes of the day to day predicament experienced by the public due to our dilapidated roads. Since an efficient road system serves as an essential instrument to support our economic development, an inward examination of the problems affecting road maintenance should be enumerated and given in-depth consideration. The researcher hereby presents the different components that contribute to roads deterioration and affect road maintenance. Each aspect presented is given due evaluation and consideration. As a result, conclusions and recommendations are drawn which in hope will be of assistance specifically to the people directly behind the maintenance of public roads in view of a better road ways.
