ABSTRACT. Statement of the Problem: This study was designed and conducted to analyze the Community Immersion Program as an Approach to the Nursing Student Holistic Development at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. Specifically the study answered the following: 1. What is the respondents socio-demographic profile as to: a) Sex b) Ethnicity c) Economic Status and d) Position in the Family. 2. What is the level of importance of Community Immersion Programs in terms of a) Attainment of Objectives b) Curriculum c) Program/Activities 3. What is the level of importance of Community Immersion Program towards the student's holistic development in terms of: a) Interpersonal Development (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) b) Professional Growth (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) 4. Is there a significant relationship between the respondent's socio-demographic profile and their perception of the importance of Community Immersion Program to their holistic development? Research Methodology: The study made use of the descriptive method of research and universal sampling wherein thirty-seven (37) graduating students served as the respondents. The instrument utilized in the study includes an adopted questionnaire and a quality-indicator checklist which was distributed at Review University for Nurses (RUN) after review session. Statistical Treatment: The following statistical procedure were utilized to interpret the data gathered: For problem 1, percentage distribution was used to determine the socio-demographic data. For problem 2 and 3, weighted mean was utilized to determine the mean level of importance of Community Immersion Program exposure for the student's holistic development. For problem 4, chi-square was used to measure the relationship of the respondent's profile to the perceived importance of CIP exposure and how it significantly affect the respondent's perception. Findings: 1. Majority of the respondents are female, coming from Luzon, eldest in the family, and above the poverty line. 2. The respondents perceived that the Community Immersion Program is exceptionally important in terms of attainment of objectives, curriculum, and program/activities. 3. The perception of the respondents regarding Community Immersion Program is exceptionally important for their holistic development. 4. There was a significant relationship between the respondents' ethnicity and position in the family and their perception on the importance of CIP in their holistic development in terms of their interpersonal development and there is also significant relationship between the respondent's economic status and their perception of the importance of CIP in their holistic development in terms of professional growth. Conclusions: Based on the findings presented, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. There was a significant relationship between the respondents socio-demographic and their perception of the importance of the Community Immersion Program exposure for their holistic development in terms of their interpersonal development and professional growth. 2. Most of the respondent were female, coming from Luzon, majority are eldest and are above the poverty line. 3. The respondents assessed the Community Immersion Program in terms of objectives, curriculum, and program/ activities as exceptionally important. 4. Most of the program/activities were assessed as exceptionally important by the respondents except for the funding which was assessed as moderately important. Recommendations: Based on the conclusions presented, the researcher recommends the following: 1. There is a need for the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila to continue the total community immersion program for the holistic development of their students and to maintain their exceptional abilities in Community Health Nursing. 2. Other nursing schools may utilize the Community Immersion Program as an alternative approach to the holistic development of nursing students. 3. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila should adopt a community which would serve as its venue for the CIP for a period of five (5) years. It will help to evaluate thoroughly and comprehensively the importance of the program. 4. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila should evaluate the program at least five (5) years after the exposure of the students in the community to know the effectiveness and sustainability of the programs and activities implemented. 5. Different institution may use the result of this study as a framework to assess their own community health nursing program and to formulate some modifications. 6. Further research maybe done utilizing the community residents as respondents.
