ABSTRACT: The study aimed to assess and evaluate the students learning who are affiliating in the clinical areas, on the aspects of level of the knowledge, skills and attitude, the orientation program, the duration and staffing procedures, the clinical activities and the non clinical activities that are offered by the San Lazaro Hospital program and its services. The researcher sought to determine the Evaluation of Clinical Exposure at San Lazaro Hospital : a Basis for a Proposed Enhanced Training Program employing descriptive-evaluative research method. The said study was conducted at San Lazaro Hospital through survey tools, the researcher-made test and questionnaire. Participants involved in the study were the student nurses who affiliate in SHL and finished the communicable and community health nursing concepts as well as the clinical instructors or preceptorship who experienced at least one year in supervising in the hospital and with a degree of Master of Arts in Nursing. Purposive sampling was utilized to determine the actual number of participants with the above-mentioned criteria. The researcher involved the widest scope of participants as possible, outside Metro Manila, which are exposed in a regular or summer period and they were requested to join the study. Questionnaires and interview were employed among students' affiliates and clinical instructors from selected schools, nationwide. Comments and recommendations were provided to those who are in authority for the betterment of the questionnaires. The results obtained were tested, analyzed, compared, and interpreted utilizing the following statistical tools: arithmetic mean, ranking, Pearson r, t-test and chi-square test. Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the following recommendations are set forth. A three-year proposed clinical program has been posted to see if there is a good outcome to make or change or modify the attitude, improve the knowledge and make betterment with the skills of the medical personnel; most importantly with the collaboration of student affiliates. The seminars and workshop were then proposed. 1. Strengthening the ward orientation program. This will be a part of Updates and Seminar on Leadership/Management/Supervisory Skills to be sponsored by the Nursing Training Office. This enhancement program is related with a modified orientation program with more aggressive strategies that will develop the different activities of the different wards where clinical and student affiliates are exposed. 2. A seminar on quality nursing care: The communicable diseases setting. This is an enhancement program to deploy and limit the number of affiliates to be near the ideal set-up category. 3. A seminar on pre-teens, teen-agers and adult psychosocial and physical assessment. This is an enhancement program to provide more comprehensive, prepared and easy to understand cephalo-caudal assessment.
