ABSTRACT: This research attempted to determine the effectiveness of the Productivity Awareness Program (PAP) in rendering quality nursing care of the nurses, nurse-managers and patients at Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center. The extent of the implementation of PAP as rendered by the nurses and the nurse-managers was measured in the following areas: sort, systematize, sweep, sanitize and self- discipline using the weighted mean. The significant difference in the respondents' level of performance was also measured by the use of Anova. The significant difference in the respondent's level of performance when grouped according to length of service and area of assignment was also measured by Anova. The t-test was used to determine the extent of implementation of PAP as rendered by the nurses, and as observed by the patients. Findings in the study in terms of the length of service of the staff nurses revealed the following: 71 (67%) belonged to the 5 years and above, 23 (22%) belonged to the 0-2 years, 12 (11%) belonged to the 3-4 years. For the nurse managers, 11 (100%) belonged to the 5 years and above. For the area of assignment, findings revealed the following: ambulatory area, 18 (16.99%) were staff nurses, 2 (18.18%) were nurse managers. For the clinical areas; 47 (44.34%) were staff nurses, 5 (45.45%) were nurse managers. For the special area, 41 (38.67%) were staff nurses, and 4 (36.37%) were nurse managers. The extent of the implementation of the PAP as rendered by the nurses, sort is verbally interpreted as extensive, systematize is verbally interpreted as extensive, sweep is verbally interpreted as extensive, sanitize is verbally interpreted as extensive and self-discipline is verbally interpreted as most extensive. The extent of the implementation of the PAP in rendering quality nursing care as observed by the patients are the following: as to sort, it is verbally interpreted as moderately extensive, for systematize; it is verbally interpreted as sometimes observed, as to sweep, it is verbally interpreted as extensive. As sanitize, it is verbally interpreted as extensive. Lastly, as to self-discipline, it is verbally interpreted as extensive. There is a significant difference in the respondents' level of performance by area of assignment since the computed value of F ratio of 227.403 is greater than the critical value of 3.07 at 0.05 level of significance. A significant difference was also noted in the respondents' level of performance in terms of area of assignment since the compute value of F ration of 1,529 is greater then the critical value. The t-test result on the extent of the implementation of the PAP yielded the following results: sort had a computed value of 8.82 which is greater than the critical value 2.37, thus, the null hypothesis was rejected; systematize had a computed value of 2.59 which is lesser that the critical value of 2.62, thus null hypothesis was accepted; sweep had a computed value of 2.55 which is lesser than the critical value, thus the null is accepted, sanitize had a computed value of 2.14 which is lesser than the critical, thus the null is accepted, and lastly, as to self discipline, the computed value is 2.8 which is greater than the critical value of 2.57, thus the null is rejected. Thus, on the basis of the results, administrative remedies were proposed to improve the performance of the nurses in the PAP.
