In developing competitive nurses, it is of a greater importance for the students to be inculcated with skills, appropriateness, critical thinking and decision making. Thus, Related Learning Experience (RLE) plays an important role in the educational process to build up a skillful and caring nurse. Through RLE, nursing students will be able to translate basic theoretical knowledge into skills, new attitudes or even entirely new ways of thinking. This study aimed to determine the utilized and preferred teaching strategies by the clinical instructors among fourth year PLM nursing students. Specifically, it aimed to determine the teaching strategies utilized by the clinical instructors; the teaching strategies preferred by the students; whether there is a significant difference in the utilized and preferred teaching strategies for the clinical instructors. The descriptive-comparative method of research was used in the completion of the study. In selecting the respondents, a random sampling technique was utilized. The researcher-constructed tool consists of three parts and has only one set that was given to the student respondents. Such questionnaire was submitted to experts for validation. A pilot-testing of the tool was also done. 72 students participated in the conduct of the study. Statistical treatments used were weighted mean, and T-test. The findings showed that the most utilized teaching strategy of clinical instructors is written assignments which, has the highest weighted mean of 3.4750. On the other hand, the least utilized teaching strategy is Role modelling with the lowest weighted mean of 3.2583. The most preferred teaching strategy of the students is Socratic Method which has the highest weighted mean of 3.5139 and the least preferred teaching strategy is written assignments with the lowest weighted mean of 3.3306. The teaching strategy that has a significant difference is Role modelling with a significant value of 0.001 that resulted to the rejection of the null hypothesis. Hence, it was concluded that there is a significant difference between the utilized and preferred teaching strategies by the clinical instructors among fourth year PLM nursing students in terms of Role-Modeling and should be subjected for recommendation to the clinical instructors. With the findings and conclusions noted, the researcher recommends that the clinical instructors must be encourage to continue and strengthen as appropriate approach in giving education in clinical setting and must provide an opportunity to focus and assess the recommended teaching strategy; nursing administration must create a set of guidelines that can be used in recommending role modeling as a teaching strategy and in a determining the most effective teaching strategy preferred by the students through the conduction of orientations and seminars ER -
