ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to provide sufficient knowledge about the determinants of low back pain to PLM employees to prevent occurrence and re-occurrence of this condition; to the PT-practitioners that they will be able to establish an appropriate intervention for a better rehabilitation outcome and to the researchers to serve as a reference and research material for future studies related to low back pain. The respondents of this study are the PLM employees. There were a total of 76 employees who participated in this study. The researchers used a survey approach in a form of questionnaire in order to collect data about the determinants of LBP and profile of respondents. The questionnaire consists of 21 questions regarding their demographic profile, past medical history, lifestyle, working environment and emotional status. It also has a category that the respondents will rate their level of awareness about the factors that may cause low back pain. The questions were validated by two registered physical therapist and a pilot study was done to test its validity. After it was floated, all questionnaires were collected and the gathered data was tabulated. Based on the results, low back pain among PLM employees is mostly associated with instructors/professors who have a Type B personality and work more than 8 hours a day, employees work requires them to assume a standing position for a prolonged period of time and having a slouched posture, travelling of more than 1 hour by riding on a public utility jeepney, having a sedentary lifestyle that causes most of them to be overweight, it also shows that mostly, the employees are highly aware that low back pain is due to sedentary lifestyle, having a poor work place, type A personality, physically demanding job and assuming a slouch posture, while they have an average awareness that smoking of more that 20 sticks a day and depression causes low back pain.
