The study specifically answered the following questions; what is the extent of psychosocial impact of abandonment in elders in terms of: Emotional Health, Mental Health, Social Health; and Spiritual Health? What is the extent of the coping strategies commonly used by elders towards the psychosocial impact of abandonment? Is there a significant relationship between the psychosocial impact of abandonment and coping strategies of elders living in home cares? Lastly, based on the results of the study, what health management guidelines that should be developed? The study utilized a descriptive correlational research design and purposive sampling technique to determine the respondents or subjects based on the researchers judgment. The study had a total number of 15 respondents which come from a residential home care. The needed data was obtained through a researcher-constructed survey delivered in a sense of oral questionnaire. The tool underwent validation of experts in the field of Psychology and Nursing to ensure the validity and reliability of data. A pre-testing or pilot testing was also performed and showed consistency of answers. The data gathered revealed significant relationship between the psychosocial impact of abandonment and coping strategies of geriatric individual living in a home care. Findings revealed that elders perceived a strengthened relationship with God, great loneliness and sadness are also experienced by elders, social health is affected by abandonment in a way that they developed difficulty of trusting other individuals. The researchers suggest that the health management guidelines be used by the health care providers dealing with the care of abandoned elders to effectively manage their psychosocial heath. The researchers recommend future researchers to replicate the study and consider its limitations or other variables so as to come up with the more comprehensive study.
