ABSTRACT: Stress is common among all of us. And it can have a positive or negative effect ton an individual depending on his/her perception of stress. Few studies focused on the effect of stress among PT students in their clinical internship program. This research is focused to in determining the effect of different stresses encountered by a PT intern in the clinical internship program. It also attempts to show different stressors that will most likely cause stress amongst interns and in a way aimed to help in preventing these stresses in affecting their clinical performance and in time thweir chosen profession. The conceptual framework of this study focused on: (1) causative factors, (2) manifestations of stress, and (3) coping mechanisms against stress of the PLM PT Interns. The study is performed using the PLM PT intern's batch 2001-2002 as the target population, with 6 interns as the pilot study and 72 interns as the sample population. This is a descriptive study that used random sampling to give everyone an equal chance of being selected for the study. Researcher-designed questionnaire was used data-gathering procedure. The final result of the research, after all data gathering and tabulation, revealed that the internship program and its contributory factors is the most common cause of stress among PLM-PT interns of batch 2001 -2002. This research also pointed out common manifestations, coping mechanisms and strategies used by interns to manage stress. Centers and clinic that are perceived as stressful as well as the reasons for them being stressful are also found in this research.
