ABSTRACT: The study basically aims to determine the knowledge and bonding scale of parents of adolescents diagnosed with AD/HD as basis for a framework of nurses health teaching program. Particularly, it sought the following sub-problems: (1) what is the profile variable of the in terms of relationship, educational attainment, source of information about AD/HD, and AD/HD type; (2) what is the level of knowledge of the parents in caring for their child with AD/HD in terms of condition, medication, nutrition, and education; (3) what is the bonding scale of parents as rated by their children, with AD/HD in terms care and control; (4) is there a significant relationship between parents profile variable in terms of parental bonding scale and level of knowledge and the bonding scale of parents of adolescents diagnosed with AD/HD?; and (6) based on the result of the study, what nurse's framework for health teaching program can be developed? This study obtained the target participants through a purposive sampling technique. The inclusion criteria included (1) those AD/HD adolescents who are aged 10 to 19 years old, (2) those diagnosed under the category of AD/HD I, HI and C, (3) those who are physically able, (4) those parents of AD/HD adolescents who directly cares for them, and (5) those parents who are willing to sign the informed consent. This study covered all those AD/HD adolescents of AD/HD Society who are entered the criteria. A total of 57 AD/HD adolescents were included including their parent/immediate surrogate. A researcher-made survey tool to assess knowledge and an adopted tool on parental bonding were employed in this study to answer the indicated sub-problems. Descriptive statistics such as means and inferential statistics such as Chi square was utilized. Careful perusal of the results lead to the following results: (1) Most of the parents caring for their AD/HD adolescents are mothers, who are college graduates, acquire information through television shows and with child of inattentive type of AD/HD; (2) Most of the mothers are moderately knowledgeable; (3) That advocacy to parental care and control is promoted especially by organizations such as AD/HD society among others. (4) That information campaigns of health care providers is geared towards on areas of AD/HD medication, nutrition and condition be strengthened through free seminars, advertisements etc. (5) That a similar conducted on a larger population.
