ABSTRACT: The major problem in the practice of open communication in a multinational company is the top management. The top management is comprised of the leaders in the organization. They are the persons who ensure greater productivity within the group. Managers are the ones who are responsible in problem solving, problem identification, analysis and implementation of solutions to different managerial problems. The purpose of the study was to analyze the communication patterns existing in a multinational company. The study used qualitative research design and conducted Focus Group Discussion to answer the research problem. Effective communication and competent managers are essentials in managing multinational company. Communication plays an important part to achieve organizational goals and attain harmonious relationship within the organization. Technology is making people more efficient at sharing information, but over reliance on technology can result to lower quality of communications. Communication is about relationships as well as information. In a multinational company, most of the time e-mail communication is not enough in dealing and communicating with people. Managing and resolving communication problems are the major issues in a multinational company. Different departments have different ways of managing and resolving communication issues. There was resentment in other teams where the superior is not taking time to talk to the members of the group. As a whole activity of multinational company, it is during teambuilding where some of the communication problems are unraveled. This study recommends that multinational company should improve communication processes by encouraging employees to participate in organizational communication. The management should resolve issues and concerns effectively and on a timely basis.
