Abstract The study determined the effects of assault among selected journalists in the communication industry. Today, journalists can be assaulted, threatened, harassed or even killed by the government or private individual without an open investigation and the murderers where never caught. The researchers aspired to find out how journalists who experienced assault were affected by it, from their professional life and their linkages. The researchers interviewed seven journalists from print, radio and TV regarding their experiences and how they were able to still continue their chosen professions. The researchers evaluated and analyzed the results of assault among the participants. Most of the interviewed journalists were not affected by assault and not seeking for the help of media organizations. They have accepted assault as part of their profession even before they were just amateurs. Their only concerns are for their families' safety. Most of them have also developed their own ways of coping up with said experiences and their own precautionary measures for protecting their selves.
