Is there a significant difference between the selected Filipino values and the areas of concern in science and technology II, embodied in the 1998 DECS learning competencies? 5. Is there a significant difference between the perceptions of science and technology II teachers on the degree of seriousness and the identified constraints/ problems that causes the difficulty of values? The study involved all science and technology II teachers (79) from districts I, II, and III in the public secondary schools in Manila. The descriptive normative method was used with the questionnaires as the main tool for gathering data. The collected data were tallied, tabulated and statistically treated with the use of statistical tools such as percentage, ANOVA, and chi-square. Significant findings revealed that: 1. Science and Technology II teachers perceived the integration of Selected Filipino values in the teaching of Science and Technology II in terms of: 1.a Among the areas of concern, the ten (10) selected Filipinos values are identified to be included in the discussion in Biological diversity, Ecosystem, Genetics, Life on Earth changes through Time and Organ System. 1.b In terms of learning activities to be used in the integration of values includes: picture strategy, personal testimonies, values judgment, values voting, role playing, discussion strategy and moral dilemma/ situational. 1.c The very serious problems identified by the respondents are the following: no follow-up at home on values being promoted, pupils ignorant on values being integrated, lack of teaching/ instructional materials on values integration and lack of reading materials about values integration in Science and Technology. 2. The most common learning activities utilized by the respondents are: picture strategy, personal testimonies, values judgment, values voting, role-playing, discussion strategy and moral dilemma situational. 3. The least learning activities used in the integration of values are the following: action project/ field work, group study of current social and environmental problems/ issues, self-report strategy, modeling and telling, persuading and convincing. 4. There is a significant difference in the teachers' perceptions on the degree of seriousness and the constraints / problems that causes the difficulty in the integration of values in the teaching of Science and Technology II. The following conclusions were formulated based on the gathered findings and results: Science and Technology II teachers in Districts I, II, and III in the division of Manila have the following awareness and perceptions: 1. Values integration is an important aspect in Science and Technology II teaching. 2. Teaches role model is the most important factor to facilitate effective values integration. 3. Teachers have constraints / problems in the integration of selected Filipino values in the teaching of science and technology II. 4. Most of selected Filipino values are not integrated in the teaching of science and technology II. In the light of the above cited results and findings, the following recommendations are forwarded. 1. Concepts in science and technology II must be tied up with desirable and relevant values to improve man and his environment. 2. Teacher as the transmitter and communicator of positive and relevant values must be values-oriented and possessed the values being taught and promoted. 3. Administrators must conduct a comprehensive seminar and training program on values education, learning activities to be used in the integration of values and desirable and relevant values to be promoted and developed such as the selected Filipino values. 4. Selected Filipino values must be strengthened and be consistently integrated in the teaching of the subject.
