Specifically, the study sought to answer the following questions: 1) What is the profile of the different respondent groups in terms of the following: 1.1 sex 1.2 age 1.3 educational attainment 1.4 religion 2) What is the perception of the respondent groups on effectiveness of the Philippine Christian University campus ministry in terms of: 2.1 mission/ vision 2.2 goals and objectives 2.3 benefits derived from the program 2.4 ministry programs and services 2.5 proposed plan, programs, services in relation to education, religion, and socio-cultural resources. 3) Is there a significant difference in the perception of the respondent groups about the effectiveness of the Philippine Christian University in terms of? 3.1 mission/ vision 3.2 goals and objectives 3.3 benefits derived from the program 3.4 ministry programs and services 3.5 proposed plans, programs, services in relation to education, religion, and socio-cultural resources 4) What campus ministry programs and services for Philippine Christian University can be developed based on the assessment's findings? Null Hypothesis: The study has one null hypothesis, as follows: There is no significant difference in the perception of the different respondent groups on the effectiveness of Philippine Christian University campus ministry program in terms of : 1.1 mission/ vision 1.2 goals and objectives 1.3 benefits derived from the program 1.4 ministry programs and services 1.5 proposed plans, programs, services in relation to education, religion, and socio - cultural resources. Procedure: This study utilized a Likert type questionnaire checklist composed of statements about on Philippine Christian University's campus ministry programs and services. The 1,124 participants in this study included the president, vice- president, 7 deans, 4 directors, 11 department heads, 10 chief of offices, 82 faculty members, 23 staff members and 985 students. Treatment of Data To interpret the data on the perception of the respondent groups on the campus ministry of the university the weighted mean was computed. The ranking was based on the weighted mean from the highest to the relatively low mean from the highest to the relatively low mean to present and to determine which of the items in each area was perceived to be meeting the expectation and which area indicated need to be met. To find the significant difference on the perception of the respondent groups about the effectiveness of the PCU's campus ministry, the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied at 5 percent level of significance. This will serve as the basis for accepting or rejecting the hypothesis. Findings: 1. On the assessment of the different respondent groups, there is a strong need for the development of the campus ministry programs and services, based from the result of the study. 2. Campus ministry is the ministry of the church, witnessing to the academic sector of society that the main objective is to present our God. 3. Promote Christian education as the primary function of the Christian university for the sake of the entire community. 4. Based on the results of the assessments, the different respondent groups strongly supported the proposed mission, vision, goals, and objectives as well as the plans in education in relation to the religion and socio-cultural resources. 5. Results of the findings revealed that campus ministry programs will benefit the different respondent groups. It is a way to meet the moral, emotional, social and spiritual life of the individual. 6. Strengthening the present campus ministry program by including all those items with lowest in rank like the following: a. University chaplain should be provided by the University. b. Self-discovery and self-growth session. c. Regular time for Bible study d. Seminars on leadership and discipleship training e. Recollections and retreats must be conducted f. Ecumenical activities are encouraged g. Evangelism at least once a year h. Worship chapel service once a week. 7. There is a need for building the Christian Formation Week. Conclusion: In view of the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: The campus ministry program of Philippine Christian University during the school year 1992-1993 was perceived by group respondents namely: administrators, faculty, staff and students. 1. The proposed mission and vision statements for campus ministry were accepted by the respondents. 2. The proposed plans for goals and objectives, education, religion and socio-cultural resources were agreed upon by the respondent groups. 3. The benefits that will derived from the programs and services were strongly agreed by the respondents. 4. Based from the assessment of the respondents the university will commit new to the following endeavors: emotional, social, moral 5. The administrators will strongly support the goals and objectives of the campus ministry programs and services. 6. Philippine Christian University, as a Christian university should uphold and strengthen the Christian education to support the values education of the entire community. 7. The university is involved in education that is relevant to Philippine needs, conditions and aspirations. 8. As a Christian university, PCU, will contribute to Christian faith if the intellectuals and character development of the respondent groups towards a professional career and a personal life that is geared towards service orientation. 9. There is a need for building the Christian university community, the campus ministry programs and services for the entire academic member. The null hypothesis raised in this study is accepted. a. There is no significant different in the perception of the different respondent groups on the effectiveness of Philippine Christian University campus program based on 5 percent level of significant, with the use of the one-way-analysis of variance (ANOVA) Recommendation: In view of the following findings and conclusion the following are recommended: 1. Establish, organize and formalize a campus ministry program and office as part of the academic pursuit to ensure meaningful Christian formation activities. The campus ministry program should take charge of organizing more liturgical and spiritual activity. a) Group dynamics session for self-discovery and self-growth session. b) Regular Bible study and prayer meetings among the different respondent groups. c) Worship chapel service at least once a month or week. d) Retreat and recollections must be conducted at least once a year. f) Ecumenical activities and evangelism must also be encouraged in the university. 2. The University must have a full time chaplain for guidance and spiritual counseling for the entire academic community. 3. More seminars on human development such as leadership and discipleship training, responsible parenthood and other social issues be given to students to feel the real essence of religious and Christian education as part of the campus ministry activities. 4. The formation of Christian groups of students, interested faculty and staff for Christian fellowship. 5. Organization of a social action program for community involvement and outreaches activities. 6. Religious reading materials must be provided by the university. 7. Establishment of prayer room for personal meditation of the members of the entire university community. 8. Celebration of the Christian formation week with organized programs and activities.s ER -
