_aRepetitive computer mouse use most often cause compression to the median nerve on the wrist. This result to a disease called Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a common focal peripheral neuropathy that can be diagnosed thru wrist compression test. This study aimed to determine the relationship of wrist compression test and computer mouse use among 1st year to 3rd year medical students of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM-CM). A self administered questionnaire was given to every student of PLM-CM. After they accomplished the questionnaire, every student was then evaluated through wrist compression test. Results from the questionnaire and from the test were analyzed through Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and Epi Info 3.5.1. The result showed that majority of PLM-CM are negative to wrist compression test with frequency of 275 (78.80%) against those who are positive to wrist compression test with a frequency of 74 (21.20%). However, the odds ratio revealed that medical students exposed to computer mouse is 1.6 times more likely of developing a positive wrist compression test, as compared to medical students unexposed to computer mouse use. On the other hand, the 95% confidence interval generated ranges from 0.96 to 2.78 which mean that the study is not statistically significant since the null value of 1 falls within the confidence interval. With these, the researchers have concluded that there is no significant evidence to conclude that there is a significant relationship between wrist compression test and the duration of computer mouse use of the respondents.
