_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: The research study was geared towards finding out whether the sociological elements have an effect to the performance of the students in laboratory class using supervised and non-supervised approaches. The hypotheses used for the study was two-tailed or non-directional, primarily focused on the results for significant difference and relationships between the variables obtained in the study and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study used Quasi-Experimental Design, the design was an empirical study used to estimate the casual impacts of an intervention on a target sample or population. Purposive sampling was used in the study; it is non-probability and hence can be subject to bias and error. The respondents selected were grade 10 students from Adamson University, Junior High School Department taking up the new grade 10 K to 12 Science curriculum. The participating grade 10 students are pre-selected and purposely based on the statistical parameters obtained while in the sampling process. Four research tools were used in the study. The laboratory experiments, laboratory data sheets, test questionnaire, that were validated by various educational experts; Observation checklist and Survey that served as provider of additional inferences for the researchers to cite instances that might have affected the outcomes of the study and also validated by various educational specialists and lastly the rubric used for observing how the students behave while performing the laboratory experiments and may serve as a source for other factors that might as well affect the study. The conclusions were drawn based on the inferences from gathered data along the research process. These data were obtained through the use of various research tools like laboratory experiments, test questionnaire, observation checklist, survey, and rubric, which prompted response from the students regarding their authentic and academic performance. It can be concluded from the study that between supervised individual, by pair, and by group and non-supervised individual, by pair and by group, all the approaches and all the sociological elements have similar effect on the performance and outputs of the students in conducting laboratory experiments. Therefore, all the approaches and all the sociological elements may be used by the teacher as a teaching strategy in performing laboratory experiments for all would yield the same results as an effect to the grade 10 science students from Adamson University. _u |
