_aABSTRACT: This study to discover the relationship between perceived social support and academic self-efficacy among 150 first year students taking up Bachelor of Science in Psychology. The data were obtained using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, which measures the support provided by significant others, family, and friends, and Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, which measures their confidence in the areas of social status, cognitive application, and technical skills. The data were analysed using the Pearson correlation with the aid of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Results showed that the support given by friends and family were found to have weak but significant relationships with the students technical skills and cognitive application whereas the support provided by significant others were found to have to have no significant effect on all three dimensions of academic self-efficacy of students because of the complementary relationships and the provisions given to them. It is recommended that students keep their positive relationships with their friends, significant others, and family constant.
