| 505 | _aABSTRACT: Motivation is considered a vital component in the performance of students in school. There are three types of motivation: intrinsic, extrinsic, and amotivated. The aim of the study was to see the relationship between academic motivation and academic performance. Based on the literature review, a hypothesis was formed: there is no significant relationship between academic motivation and academic performance. A sample 106 Irregular Students from the different colleges from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. The Academic Motivation Scale by Vallerand was administered to assess instrinsic, extrinsic, and amotivation and academic performance was measured through last GWA. In order to interpret the results, mean scores were used to know the level of motivation among the respondents and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficients was calculated to assess relationship between academic motivation and academic performance were found positively correlated (r=.190, p=0.51). To conclude, findings of the results shows that academic motivation improves academic performance regardless of a students who perceived failed a subject. | ||
