_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: The thesis examined the correlation between personality traits and decision making styles among the students in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. The hypothesis tested under study is if there will be a significant relationship between personality traits and decision making styles of the student leaders. The researcher obtained a sample of n=209 from a population pool of 354 incumbent student leaders in the academic year 2017-2018. Instruments used are the 44-item Big Five Inventory, for the personality and 22-item Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire, for the decision making. The results showed that: Openness to experience appeared to be the most dominant among student leaders with the mean score 3.73 while Neuroticism obtained the lowest mean score with 3.19. Vigilance in decision making obtained the highest mean score of 1.69 while defensive avoidance obtained the lowest mean of 0.86. Openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness positively correlated with vigilance. Neuroticism negatively correlated with vigilance. Openess to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness negatively correlated with hypervigilance. All personality traits significantly correlated with defensive avoidance, inverse relationship were seen between openness to experience, consccientiousness, extraversion, and agreeableness. Positive correlation with neuroticism and defensive avoidance is also evident. A proposed leadership training program is also recommended for the leaders based on the findings in this body. _u |
