_a _aABSTRACT: Crime is high during the economic crisis because people have nowhere to work, the salary is low, people are socially deprived and unprotected, therefore restart to commitment crimes. Thus, understanding how crime rates respond to strong variations in economic conditions is an important and interesting task for economists. This study analyzes and discusses the condition and relationship of Unemployment rate and Crime rate in National Capital Region starting from 1980 to 2008. The database covering NCR's Unemployment Rate and Crime rate of this study was collected on Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine National Police and Department of Labor and Employment. This study is conducted in National Capital Region or more commonly known as Metro Manila, which is the center of Luzon and the capital region of the Philippines. One of the tests that has been used in this study is the F-test, the use of F-test is to know if the variables are significant to each other. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of Unemployment Rate to Crime Rate in NCR. The finding in this study indicates that, in NCR, if Unemployment Rate increases the Crime Rate also increases. The result of this study showed that the independent variable which is the Unemployment Rate has a positive relationship to Crime Rate, when there's an increase in Unemployment Rate there's also an increase in Crime Rate. The researchers recommend this study as a stepping stone for all the future researchers especially for policy makers and economics majors who want to analyze the behavior of crime caused by variation of variables like unemployment, to explore and identify the effects of the major economic problem of the country which is the unemployment. Understanding the country's situation, labor problems are obviously a hindrance to its progress. In addition to this, one's inability to generate income leads to a greater probability to commit crime.
