_aAbstract Recruitment and selection is the key process of an organization. This process provides companies with talented individuals who contribute to the growth of the company. Therefore, it is important to set requirements to select the best candidate for the job. In this study, the researchers focused on the two main requirements of the recruitment process: work experience and educational attainment. The study used a correlational research design and digital survey questionnaires were used to gather the data. It surveyed 54 Human Resource Practitioners and Specialists from selected companies in the National Capital Region. The objective of this research is to compare the two main requirements in the recruitment process and how these two differ in terms of employability and competence of a candidate from the perspective of Human Resource Practitioners and Specialists. The paired sample t-test was used to determine the difference between work experience and educational attainment. The study found that there is no significant effect of having educational attainment or work experience in guaranteeing more job opportunities and no significant difference as a basis if there is training needed after the recruitment and selection process. However, there is a significant difference between having high educational attainment and adequate work experience as a candidate qualification basis for employee recruitment and selection strategies. This implies that work experience and educational attainment influence identifying qualified individuals during the recruitment and selection process.
