_aABSTRACT: Career-selection is one of the major concerns of a graduating high school student. An individual often is confused due to many considerations. More frequent that not, when one is about to go to college he is influenced by either his aspirations, interest, skills, family, and in-demand jobs causing the career-decision to be difficult. Many theorists believe that career choice is a result of the interaction of the cognitive and effective processes. Indeed, Occupational choice is a lifelong process of decision makin for those who seek major satisfaction from their work. This leads him to reassess repeatedly how he can improve the fit between his changing career goals and the realities of the world of work (Zunker, 1994). This study sought to identify the relationship between the socio-demographic profile and the career preference of incoming college freshmen of Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School. Specifically, it identified the socio-demographic profile of the respondents as to gender, and parent's civil status, income and number of children; the career preferences of the respondents; the extent and the relationship to which the socio-demographic profile affected the career preferences and the relevance of career choice of the respondents to the vision of the government in the year 2016. The study employed the descriptive research through purposive sampling. The researchers used a researcher-based survey questionnaire to determine the respondents socio-demographic profile. To identify the extent of the effect of socio-demographic profile to one's career preferences. Likert scale was employed. Meanwhile, to identify the relationship between socio-demographic profile and the career preferences, the Chi-square was utilized. The researchers find out that as an individual contemplates in choosing a career to pursue. Keen deliberation of the factors one is considering must be observed. Although, one's socio-demographic profile may have no relation to his or her career preference. However, parents and other relatives must guide an individual to come up with a decision that will affect his or her future. Furthermore, the career preferences of the respondents must be aligned with the program of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), JOBS FIT 2020.
