_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: Introduction. As mandated in Republic Act 9344 of 2006, its amended act, Republic Act 10630 of 2013 and also stated in Juvenile Justice Welfare Council's barangay protocol in managing cases of Children at Risk, the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) plays a vital role in handling cases of Children at Risk as well as in taking appropriate actions to prevent them from becoming in conflict with the law. Methods. This study is conducted to explore the profile of selected members of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children in terms of age, educational attainment, length of service under BCPC and technical assistance received such as seminars and trainings and its impact on their performance in handling of cases of Children at Risk (CAR). Conclusion. Through the conducted in-depth interview using survey and guide questions, the researchers had found that the age, educational attainment, length of service under BCPC and technical assistance received such as seminars and trainings of the respondents in this study have impact on their performance in handling cases of Children At Risk in their barangay. Hence, the researchers recommend that further study regarding this topic should be conducted in a large sample of respondents to provide better understanding, assessment as well as recommendations to even more improve the effectiveness of the members of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children's performance in handling cases of Children At Risk in the barangay level. Recommendation. This research raised several recommendation. These are: 1) Coordinate with Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council for the provision of technical assistance such as seminars and trainings regarding the new :Barangay Protocol in Managing Cases of Children At Risk (CAR); appoint BCPC members that received trainings in documentation, interviewing and in handling cases of children and also attended seminars on the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006 and other related laws regarding the protection and welfare of children; 3) a member of BCPC with the age of 20 and above and are college graduates; 4) to conduct studies that will further assess the impact of the profile of BCPC members in terms of age, educational attainment, length of service under BCPC and technical assistance recived on their performance in handling cases of Children At Risk. _u |
