_aABSTRACT: Prostitution is one of the oldest profession and is considered a taboo in many places in the world including the Philippines. It existed centuries ago and branded prostituted women as sex objects. The main objective of this duty is to determine the psychological, social, and economic factors and effects of prostitution to prostitutes as well as its implication to the society. Descriptive-status approach was used to determine the answer relating to the existing conditions of prostitutes. Pertinent data from ninety (90) respondents: fifty (40) prostitutes, fifty (50) members from the surrounding communities, and three (3) key informants from the locality of Ermita, Avenida, Malate, and Cubao were collected using a self-made survey questionnaire. This study does not only limits itself to prove the existence of stigma in prostitution, but also to probe deeper to reasons why they engage in this kind of business, its implications to them, and the perception of the surrounding communities. In conclusion, it was out that the respondents awareness in terms of psychological factors like being a loner, result of broken family, and sexual abuse was high. Also, the respondents are sensible to the social factors such as being a personal choice, number of male clients, and unfinished education. Additionally, economic factors such as poverty, materialism, and an easy-money avenue led to them this venture. Furthermore, it was also found out that respondents are also conscious to the effects of prostitution psychologically like drinking liquor, irritability and regret. Socially, the respondents are able to help their family, experience stigma and consider themselves deviant. In economic aspect, they earn a lot of money in this profession. More so, the surrounding communities perceived prostitution as a cause to transfer sexually transmitted diseases, destroys the sanctity of marriage and it is a system of earning money by selling one's on body. While they view prostitutes are people who support their families and that there are child and female prostitutes.
