_b _b _c _aABSTRACT: This study aims to trace the historical significance and determine the cultural significance and the development of the Manila Film Center because the researchers want to establish the need of rehabilitating the Manila Film Center and use it again as the main film center of the Philippines. The researchers identified administrations from President Ferdinand Marcos to President Benigno Aquino III as the timeline for historical events and their significance while the 1982-1986 was the years in identifying the cultural effect of the Manila Film Center to the Philippine film industry. The researchers chose an exploratory research for its design and conducted an in-depth interview with the officials of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, National Commission on the Culture and the Arts, Film Development Council of the Philippines and the film Experts Inc. The data gathered shows that after the Marcos administration, no other administration seriously took care of the Manila Film Center, there are several attempts to revive it, however, due to budget constraints, it was leased to the Amazing Show from 2001 and became a place for transgender theatrical shows. Also, these film organizations expressed that there was a real need for a national film center because it can really help the film industry and educate the future generation about the country's rich film culture. Thus, the Manila Film Center played a very significant role in the film industry and a very important piece in the Philippines culture and arts. The proponents recommend that the Manila Film Center should be rehabilitated with several improvements and new amenities. After that the researchers also came up with a public campaign on how the Manila Center will be relaunced to the new generation of Filipinos. _u |
